Biography

An usual name on European stages, among the soprano Ruth Iniesta's most recent successes are Violetta in La Traviata (Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona), Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor (Dresden Opera), Aspasia in Mitridate (Teatro Real, Madrid), Amina in La sonnambula (Opera di Roma), and Liù in Turandot (La Monnaie, Brussels).

Winner of the Campoamor Opera Prize, El Ojo Crítico Award from Spanish National Radio, and the 2024 Talía Award from the Spanish Academy of Performing Arts, her voice has also been heard at the Paris Opera, Vienna State Opera, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Sydney Opera House, Hamburg Staatsoper, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Real in Madrid, Les Arts in València, and the Verona Arena.

During the 2025–2026 season, she will open the programme at Les Arts in València as Marguerite in Faust (Gounod), and will return to La Monnaie in Brussels for Benvenuto Cellini (Berlioz), to the Teatro de la Zarzuela for Jugar con fuego (Barbieri), and to the Opéra de Marseille in Rigoletto (Verdi). This season also marks her debut at the Royal Opera House in London, singing Musetta in La bohème (Puccini).

A prominent bel canto interpreter, she has starred in iconic titles such as Lucia di Lammermoor, L’elisir d’amore, and Don Pasquale by Donizetti; I Puritani, Capuleti e I Montecchi, and the mentioned Sonnambula by Bellini; and Il barbiere di Siviglia, Il viaggio a Reims or Armida by Rossini. The latter was recorded on disc by Naxos label. She will close the 24/25 season with her debut as Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne, with Mozart is another of her key composers, with works such as Die Zauberflöte, Don Giovanni, Mitridate, and Le nozze di Figaro

Additionally, she has worked in Verdi titles such as Rigoletto, Falstaff, or La Traviata, and Puccini works like La Bohème, Gianni Schicchi, and La Rondine. At the same time, since the beginning of her career, Iniesta has shown a special affection for and defense of Spanish zarzuela, starring in works such as Doña Francisquita, La del manojo de rosas, Château Margaux and Pan y toros, among many others.
